With #StaySafePlaySafe guidelines in place, the golfers were keen to get onto the golf course for the first major trophy of the year.
With the first tee off at 6.45am and the last at 4.39pm and a high level of golf throughout, the competition was well-fought.
The eventual champion Gavin Roberts, completed his round at 8.15pm, and lifted the prestigious Captain’s Trophy after a one shot win, on an excellent score of nett 63. Gavin attributed a lot of this to the work he has done on his game with PGA Golf Professional, Chris Honeywill, proving that lessons and practice do pay off.
Rick Pillow, Men’s Golf Captain said, “I am in humble gratitude to all the members for their most generous support for my charity of the year, Rainbow Living. We raised a total of £2000 for day which is a big wow!
“My thanks also go to the valuable voluntary help given by my Vice Captain Charlie who started everyone off sporting his new hair style! Janet from Rainbow Living, Caroline, Lizzie, and Sarah without who the day wouldn’t have gone so well and enjoyable.
Rick continued, “The Professionals, Club and Green teams provided what they do best and on a day where more social club facilities were open for the first time, the bar team were excellent – thank you to Luke, Jordan and Hannah.
“I look forward to tomorrow’s Ladies’ Golf Captain’s Day and next Tuesday for the Men’s Golf Captain’s Day for the Ladies.”
