There’s nothing like setting yourself a few ‘bucket list’ goals to celebrate a ‘big’ birthday year. Most people aim for the holiday of a lifetime, a few weekends away with old friends, or even a daredevil challenge to prove there’s life in the old dog yet!
Not Tanya Robinson though. Whether it’s down to her ‘give it all’ attitude or questionable sanity, Tanya has signed up to completing 12 sports challenges in 2020 that individually would be more than enough for most. And the reason why? It’s to celebrate her 40th birthday…yes, instead of a weekend in New York, for instance!
Tanya is the Assistant Spa Manager at Wear Park Spa, Exeter Golf and Country Club, but when she’s not indulging clients with luxurious Elemis facials and massage, she loves running with her dog. Having had a six month break from running, she is back and chomping at the bit.
Tanya lives in Exmouth with her daughter and husband, Jim. Jim has been a motorbike volunteer for ‘Blood Bikes’, Devon Freewheelers EVS, for many years providing a free out of hours courier service to the NHS across Devon. The Blood Bikes carry whole blood, blood and other medical samples, medication, emergency medical equipment, tissue samples for cross matching before transplant operations and donor breast milk for premature babies. The charity receives no funding from the NHS for this service and relies on public donations to be able to continue to operate.
This is where Tanya has stepped in. Tanya wants to raise as much money as possible for the charity which is why she is aiming to complete a challenge a month, for 12 months.
Here is what she has planned:
January – Dirty Devil Stampede – 7 miles
February – Battle of Woodbury – 13 miles
March – Totally Muddy – 10k
April – Jurassic Trail – East meets West – 10k/13 miles
May – Rat Race Dirty Weekender – 20 miles
June – Mountain climb – 1 of the 3 peaks
July – Salty Seadog Triathlon
August – Tough Mudder West – 10 miles & 25 obstacles
September – Great North Run – 13 miles
October – Commando Challenge – 10k
November – Cornish Marathon – 26 miles
December – Portsmouth Coastal Marathon – 26 miles
Any donations would be gratefully received…and of course, we will keep you updated with her progress.
