Welsh rugby legend Jonathan Davies entertained guests at Exeter Golf and Country Club with a fascinating insight into the current world of rugby and his career.
An Evening with Jonathan Davies was the second sports dinner at Exeter Golf and Country Club. The first took place last year with Nigel Owens as after-dinner speaker.
This year’s event on Wednesday 21st March started early for the VIP Table guests who enjoyed a complimentary bar and canapes in the private bar of The Mews – the newly refurbished meeting, bar and terrace space at Exeter Golf and Country Club. Jonathan made himself at home, chatting with the VIP guests from local company, Carter Dawes – bespoke financial planners.
Guests for the main event arrived from 7pm, ready for the three-course dinner at 7.30pm. Compere for the evening, David Fitzgerald (Fitz) of the BBC, welcomed Jonathan and the guests to the event.
The three-course dinner of duck liver parfait, Devon fillet of beef medallions and warm treacle tart for dessert, was followed by an introduction to Jonathan by Fitz.
Jonathan’s hour-long talk covered everything from his career in rugby union and league, international rugby playing for Wales, current talent including the Exeter Chiefs’ rise to success and the big question…what happened to England in the Six Nations.
Chris Jones, General Manager of Exeter Golf and Country Club said, “It was an honour to welcome Jonathan Davies to Exeter Golf and Country Club. He was incredible friendly and eager to meet our guests. His charisma and energy added to the fascinating stories he told about his rugby career and his expertise provided a remarkable insight into the world of rugby today. The only question now is, who we book for our next ‘An Evening with…’, and any suggestions would be welcome!”
