Ladies’ Golf Captain, Caroline Harris, teed off at 6.15am on Tuesday, to start the ladies’ golf ‘Dawn ‘Til Dusk Challenge’.

The Ladies’ Golf Vice Captain, Lizzie, past Ladies’ Golf Captain Ali, plus all the committee members, Joy Champion, Jo Connolly, Charleen Reeves, Jackie Harris, Jenny Outhwaite and Liz Mapson.

The early tee of was the start of a long day of golf, starting after sunrise and going through until sunset, to raise money for Rainbow Living. Rainbow Living is a volunteer run charity providing support and accommodation for young adults with learning disabilities in Devon. This is the second year the charity has been supported by the Golf Captains at Exeter Golf and Country Club.

The golfers continued playing until almost 9.00pm when visibility on the course was too low to continue playing. By then, they had played 62 holes of golf…and walked the equivalent of a half marathon.

Men’s Golf Captain, Rick Pillow and the Director of Golf, Darren Everett supported the ladies’ golf committee, seeing them off at the first tee and providing hot drinks on the 4th.

Caroline said, “Thanks to Chris Jones and his team for providing us with bacon baps after our first round of golf. The second round of golf was played in amongst the ladies competition, and great support was shown from everybody on the course. The third round started with a little glass of fizz from Colin Outhwaite, and a lovely photo memento.”

The golf continued through into a 4th round. At the final 18th, the golfers were met by fellow members who clapped them in at the end of the long day.

Caroline continued, “The support from all the members was tremendous and many thanks go to all who helped on the day…and to Darren who let us plaster his buggies with decorations!”

The ladies’ golf committee thank everyone for supporting them on the day and by donating on their JustGiving page.
