The first Ladies Pros Golf Day at Exeter Golf and Country Club

The first-ever Pros Golf Day for ladies took place on Tuesday 24th July at Exeter Golf and Country Club.

A full field took to the course to compete in a three player team format. With nearest the pins on every par 3 offering prizes for bronze and silver players, plus a ‘nearest the Prosecco’ on the 13th hole, and team prizes down to 6th  , there was plenty to play for.

The ladies were treated to a glass of Prosecco and some nibbles on the 8th tee by Exeter Golf and Country Club’s new Director of Golf, Darren Everett. After the much-welcomed refreshment, the golfers then had the opportunity to buy the tee shot of Ryan or Tom on the 8th tee, which raised £100 for the Golf Captains’ charity – Exeter Neonatal Unit. The Pros were hopeful one of the ladies would make a 2 on the 8th, but actually celebrated double success with Liz Harding and Carolyn Beattie both recording 2’s.

A presentation in Wear Park followed the day of golf, and was well-attended.

Darren said, “The atmosphere at the presentation event was superb and the perfect end to a fabulous day. Everyone who took part was keen to make it an annual event and we’re pleased to say, with such overwhelming support, we’ve scheduled it in the diary for 2019!”

The winners of the team event were Debbie More, Sue Gannon and Sian Clarke who recorded a brilliant 50pts. Runners up were Jane Smale, Jackie Harris and Sharon Thorpe with 49pts.
