Golf is back #StaySafePlaySafe

May 13, 2020 | Jenni Ashford

We are delighted to reopen Exeter Golf and Country Club for golf members, however we have made a number of changes to the course which you need to understand before playing.

We’ve created this framework based on advice from England Golf within government requirements to maintain safety on the golf course and for our members. It is vital that all golf members adhere to this framework and commit to ensuring a safe environment for our members and staff.

RETURN TO PLAYING GOLF FRAMEWORK

Car Park

There will be 2 car parks in operation. The first car park on the right as you come up the
drive is for golfers playing holes 8-18. If parking here, please leave the car park and walk past
the putting greens and the sports bar to access the 8th tee. The car park over by the pro shop
is for golfers playing holes 1-7

Try to use alternate car parking spaces to aid social distancing

Follow signage in the car park detailing rules and procedures

Course Set Up

There will be 2 mini courses set up for members to play: Holes 1-7 and holes 8-18.
This will allow more members to access the course. You will book to play one or the other, you
cannot play both on the same day. This will be reviewed as we move forward.

All benches and bins on the course are out of use.

All ball washers and drinking fountains are out of use.

All bunker rakes have been removed.

All ball scoops have been removed.

All hole cups have a modification to stop the ball going to the bottom of the hole.

Hand sanitisers will be placed close to both the 1st tee, 8th tee and the 18th green.

Maintain a minimum of two metres social distancing at all times.

Do not touch or remove the flagstick.

Rake bunkers with your club or feet only.

There is signage from the car parks notifying golfers of the procedures regarding teeing off.

Stay in your car until 15 minutes before your tee time.

Be ready to stand on path leading to 1st or 8th tee five minutes before your tee time.

Access the tee on your tee time as long as the group in front have left the teeing area.

Booking Procedure

Tee times can only be booked online via Intelligent Golf.

Book either for either holes 1-7 or 8-18 – only one course, not both.

Guidance and procedures are on the daily booking sheets, for information.

Players must not book to play if they are feeling unwell, self-isolating, showing any symptoms of COVID-19 or have been in any contact with a person diagnosed with COVID-19 in the last 14 days.

Players with a recognised ‘vulnerability’ must not book to play.

Players may book their playing partners into the same slot – two balls only.

Tee times will be set at 10 minute intervals for one or two ball rounds.

Individual players may join other vacant slots, on the assumption that players will respect social distancing / vulnerability requirements.

No visitors (non members) are permitted – including guests of members.

Members play only (to be reviewed in phase 2).

Tee times must be pre-booked – you cannot turn up and play.

Tee times will be available to book up to 3 days in advance.

A golf member can play a maximum of three times during one week at present to allow sufficient availability for other golfers.

Social golf only at this time – no competitive golf until further notice (to be reviewed in phase
2).

No members roll ups allowed (to be reviewed in phase 2).

Practice Areas

All practice chipping and putting greens as well as practice nets are closed

During the Round

The on-course toilet will be open. Users will be responsible for leaving it clean after use. Please ensure you wash / sanitise hands for at least 20 seconds.

Teeing Areas – golfers to keep two metres apart at teeing areas due to the normal proximity
of golfers to one another when tee shots are being played.

Golfers must stay more than two metres apart when walking to the ball, searching
for a ball and playing shots.

Golfers must not touch stray golf balls.

Golfer must use their own equipment only – absolutely no sharing of equipment such as clubs, tee pegs, towels etc.

Bunkers – with no rakes allowed on the course, golfers are to make their absolute best efforts
to smooth the sand using their club and/or their feet.

Greens – golfers to keep two metres apart on the putting greens and not to touch the flagstick.

Social distancing is as important before and after a round as it is during the round, so when the
round is over all golfers must leave the course and the club/facility immediately.

Key Points

Please keep the mantra Stay Safe Play Safe in your mind at all times.

We have made 2 mini courses, holes 1-7 & 8-18. This is to allow as many golf members as possible the opportunity to book a tee time and play.

You may play as 1 or 2 balls only. A 2 ball may include someone from outside your household but you must maintain strict social distancing. Play is for golf members only, no visitors or members guest at this time

The online tee time booking system will open at 12pm lunch time on Tuesday 12th May. From there on, bookings will be available from 7.30am. in the morning.

You will be able to book up to 3 days in advance and players are only permitted to play 3 times per week.

There will be starters / marshals on both the 1st and the 8th tees – please listen to their instructions and respect their requests.

Wednesday 13th May tee times will start at 10am to allow us to have a safety meeting onsite prior to opening. From then on tee times from the first tee will start at 8am and tee times from the 8th tee will start at 8.30am. The last tee time will be 6pm each day.

When you make your booking it will show 9 holes next to your name. Please ignore this. You will either be playing 7 holes or 11 holes depending on which tee you start.

All times MUST be booked in advance. There will be no turn up and play option.

We all have a responsibility to both fellow members and staff to adhere to the strict social distancing guidelines and the policies we have put in place. Anyone who is known to break these intentionally will be suspended from playing.

Thank you – and enjoy getting back to golf!
