Exeter Golf and Country Club has had a great first half to the 2019/2020 Devon League Squash and Racketball season for the top sides with Premier Division success coming from both disciplines
The Men’s 1st team Racketball side finished in their strongest placing yet in the (highly competitive) Premier Division at 2nd place. They are also joined for by Al Hutching’s 2nd team, who have managed to gain back to back promotions to reach the top division as well.
This is the first time that Exeter Golf and Country Club has had two Racketball sides in the Premier division at the same time. Mike Harris, Squash and Racketball Professional said, “Fantastic work from all the players involved, given the strength and depth of the two divisions.”
Exeter Golf and Country Club squash teams have also enjoyed a top season in the Premier Division Squash, as their squash 1st team managed to win the first half of the season by a huge 35 point margin over second placed Fort Stamford.
Having won the division for an unprecedented three years in a row, the team will be looking to seal the second half as well to continue their record breaking run. A second team performance to note comes from Exeter Golf and Country Club’s 3rd Team led by Jimmy Hill, who have managed to secure back to back promotions too, and who will find themselves battling it out in Division 2 next half.
Mike Harris said, “A huge thanks to all the players for representing all the club teams (5 x Men’s Squash, 3 x Men’s Racketball, 1 x Ladies Squash and 1 x Ladies Racketball), and also to the Team Captains who do such a great job of running the sides and keeping everyone organised and turning up!”
