We understand children love to chop and change. We think that’s a good thing…why just focus on one sport when you can try so many more.
Therefore, our junior memberships include all our sports. Try them all and find your niche!
Tennis, squash, racketball, swimming, golf and the gym (from age 12 with supervision!) are all available.
With great childrens’ menus in The Hub and Wear Park Restaurant, birthday parties, family fun sessions in the pools, children’s discos, fireworks night, the holiday club and crèche you can really make the most of your family time here.
We even have a family circuits session in the Fitness Studio on a Sunday morning.
As well as promoting physical fitness, taking part in sports can build children’s self-esteem, motivate them at school, help them work towards goals and help build important social skills. But, all that aside, the most important reason to get your child into sport is simple: it’s fun!
Get a teenager into exercise and they will feel the benefits on their body and mind. It’s also proven that a fit lifestyle as an adult is more likely when the foundations are laid in place as a child or teenager.
We also offer week-long intensive courses. Our swimming lesson programmes adhere to the Amateur Swimming Association national curriculum of stages 1 – 10, taking swimmers from treading water to competitive swimming, complete with certificates and badges if required. We can also coach for specific events or to retrain adults to perfect their stroke. You’ll be surprised at how quickly you see water confidence appear. As part of our All Sports Memberships, members aged over 12 can start using the gym with supervision from an adult. Our Fitness Instructors are trained to provide appropriate gym programmes for young people according to their physical development. Once 14 or over, teenagers can also attend our fitness classes, which are a great way to progress their fitness in a safe yet fun environment. The classes we especially recommend for teenagers are circuits, yoga, spinning and Cardio Tennis for budding tennis players.
